Every morning when we do Gongyo, we pray that the protective powers, or Shoten Zenjin, inherent in our lives and the environment be strengthened and enhanced. When we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, we activate our own Buddha nature which, in turn, naturally triggers the protective powers in our environment.
